Summer "break"

Hi readers !

Summer has gone by quickly and besides some other few presents and a Tiger Sweater for my son (which being in Linen of course got ready when autumn weather came around) I did not manage much progress on other projects. But now that evenings get darker and weather colder so I look forward some cozy knitting moments :)

Summer night sweater

Summer night sweater is now also finished - inspired of a  Lana Mondial Dalmata pattern (edges are Lana Mondial BioCotton). Now I just need to write down the pattern.

Moss hat (crocheted)

Hi reader !

My son and I visited my favorite yarn shop recently (Knocks) and he has chosen a 2 yarns to have something of ...one of them not little of a challenge the yarn being Lang Softhair in Green. That is how Moss hat was born - with a family cooperation for the design once again.
The other yarn is Bio Lana from Lana Mondial - gift from the company itself.

Finishing up some old projects

Hi reader !

I have decided that I need to finish up at least some projects I have started on (if not for any other reason than see how much yarn I have left to use after). Focus on the projects which follow an existing pattern (they are somewhat more speedy).
And here is some report of progress - Wine lace shell (design by by Melissa Leapman) is now of the needles and I already wore it first time today.

One more to go (a sweater in Silk Mohair form Sandnes Garn) before I get back working my own designs.

Soccer socks - knitting is sometimes "required" not pleasure only

Hi !

Well - time flies by...2 weeks since my last entry
I started to work on a new sweater that for now is called "Fireworks sweater" but then my son's needs interrupted the project.
It got cold.  And snow and ice activities required warm woolen socks in school- or raggsockor in Swedish.
And in a large school it is not easy to always find your belongings -so his socks started to disappear and he was in need of new ones.
I first knitted basic ankle socks in a red waste yarn. That was not really good enough.
So then we discussed and it turns out a pair of soccer socks would be much more trendy .... with the football on it preferably. Here is the result :

And yes - I did not manage to get him out of the couch for the pictures - but then he is ill so excused.

Whip Bolero

Today I added to the Ravelery database the description for the Whip Bolero.
Link to the pattern (you can also browes my designs in the right column)
Available in English only for now. The "whip" is the i-cord drawn thru the cable edging - and is optional.
But here is the story of the "whip". The whole idea for this clothing piece came from a  book where one of the characters had always a whip hidden in her clothes (I read quite a lot of Fantasy). Originally I planned the i-cord to be in the sleeves (that is why the sleeves are a mesh pattern and not plain stockinette stitch). But things change ; or in other words there was not enough complete rounds around the arms in the mesh to look nice - but I was stubborn enough to want to stick with the original idea to have a contrasting color i-cord added.
As usual would you need description in Swedish, French or Hungarian please just comment on the blog and I'll provide.

Squares sweater

Hi !
This week I finished the sweater base on my sons design and called it the Squares sweater. He was a happy little man, wearing his own design with pride.
I did not chart this - as this is a quite straightforward raglan sweater in brioche - with some colorwork. But would you be interested let me know, and I'll write it down.
Here are some pictures of the finished pullover :

Elves Shrug

Hi !

So here is what I would call my first true design ... when I picked 3 balls of yarn to knit something new - without instructions.
When I posted it on Ravelry first I mentioned that it was inspired among others by Swedish wilderness - the colors represent for me the forests and Fjällen. Then I had bought these  BC Tussah Tweed Silk yarns in Åre - which was another link.

This shrug is knit side to middle back, with diagonals and then short rows; so it will not be a flat garment but hug and warm the shoulders.

Description is posted in English for now - available in Swedish. I can translate it to French or Hungarian upon request. Check out list of designs on the right.

Current project (well most current anyway - I always have many)

During the holidays I have been working on my son's order - and needed to put aside all other projects of course.

Here is his design :
And here is the work in progress from some stash yarn chosen by my son (I was not successful proposing another yellow)

This was a great opportunity for me to learn brioche stitch at least.

Butterfly Sweater - first design to be posted

Hi !

So here is one of my own recent creations - and first to be published. I figured I'll start with a pullover post given the name of the blog.
This pullover is called Butterfly Sweater and was created for teen-age or young adult girls, but could fit larger audience by adapting colors and size.
The body is worked  in stockinette and rib stitch and sleeves are worked in lace pattern. Edges are decorated with an i-cord bind off in contrasting colour.
If you like this design you will find the free description under Designs column on the right. Description is for now posted in English - available in Swedish - and on request can be provided in French or Hungarian (just give me time then to translate it !)
